How to age a baby squirrel
Squirrels can come in all shapes and sizes, so this is just a guide to indicate roughly how old a squirrel is.

Newborn
Newborn squirrels still have an umbilical cord. To identify from any other animal, grey squirrels have dark coloured claws

1 week old
1 Week old squirrels might still have a small scab where the umbilical cord was, and will still be pink in colour

2 weeks old
All signs of the umbilical cord should be gone, you start seeing skin pigmentation.

3 Weeks old
You should see much more pigmentation now, and them starting to get a furry face

4 Weeks old
They are starting to get a lot more fur now, although the stomach will still be bald, they are looking much more like squirrels as you know them

5 Weeks old
More and more fur and movement under the eye lids

6 Weeks old
Eyes open and they start seeing the world for the first time.

7 Weeks old
Exploring and Climbing more

8 Weeks old
Tail is much furrier now

10 Weeks old
Should be much more independant and have a fuller tail

12-14 Weeks
Minature adult squirrel. Should be weaned

Adult
Adults are much bigger at 350g+
